During the conference dedicated to the improvement of traffic situation in the capital the authorities claimed that the conclusion of the conversion of central Moscow streets to one way-traffic is planned by the end of 2010 year.
The process of central streets conversion to one-way traffic started in 2004 year and must had been completed in 2009 year, but the financial crises hindered the conclusion of the works. The appropriateness of such transformations is obvious: first of all the one-way traffic excludes the possibility of head-on collisions.
Thus Moscow authorities claim that the works are to be finished in 2010 year. Officials say that the traffic on Garden ring won’t be converted to one-way. As the situation will merely be worsen. But the plans to convert some streets out of the Garden ring are under consideration now. The 1st and the 3rd Volkonsky Lanes are already converted to one-way.
